Here is some information on the Blue Star automatic greaser for tower crane slew bearings. The slew bearing is the most highly stressed bearing on the tower crane with the shortest maintenance intervals. Rothe Erde requires 2 pounds of grease per 50 hours of operation, this is just over 2 tubes per 50 hours in its bearings. The Blue Star greaser capacity is 35-40 pounds of grease for the inner bearing race and 35-40 pounds for the outer pinion teeth as well giving it long term greasing capability between grease tank refilling or replacement every 5 months for the inner tank and approximately 10 months for the outer pinion tank.

The operators workday is long and stressful, that being said a lot of cranes don’t get the proper lubrications needed per manufactures approved grease intervals. Blue Star aims to maintain these intervals to improve the life of these bearings to reduce premature wear and keeping the slew bearing in tolerance.
